Mikel John Obi has completed a move to English Championship side Middlesbrough on Thursday.
The former Chelsea man joins Tony Pulis’ side as a free agent after leaving Chinese side Tianjin TEDA by mutual consent this month.
The 31-year-old midfielder has held talks with ‘Boro manager Pulis and the club’s top hierarcy severally at Rockliffe over the past weeks.
Mikel finally signed a short-term contract on Thursday morning that will keep him till the end of this season at Middlesbrough’s Rockliffe.
The midfielder passed his medical examination and immediately joined up for Thursday’s training with the team despite having been inactive competitively for 10 weeks.

But Mikel’s debut for Boro may be delayed as he might not be part of the squad for the match against Newport on Saturday.
Boro are still waiting to sort out his international clearance.
Mikel was also linked with a move to English Premier League side Crystal Palace before he opted for Boro.
The Nigerian midfielder has been assigned number 2 jersey.
