Kamsi, a movie that centres on the struggles of a single parent, will officially make its entry into Nollywood on November 23.
The feature length movie was shot in the central Nigerian city of Jos and combines a storyline that deals with the struggles, frustration and extreme decision of a single parent Dozie Nnamani, played by Wole Ojo, just to ensure he meets up with his fatherly role.
Dozie finds himself in a conundrum of having to make an extreme decision in order to save his daughter Kamsi who is just eight years old after falling victim of a violent crime.
In the midst of this, Dozie is still grieving the loss of his wife who passed away just nine months ago and then faces the biggest hurdle in his life to provide financially for surgery to save Kamsi from amputation.
Director of the film Uzodinma Okpechi explained why the movie, shot in high definition, appealed to him. He added that Kamsi will further showcase that Nigeria has “good filmmakers.”
“We have good Nigerian filmmakers here. Yes we are few but we also need to be encouraged,” said Okpechi.
