It was a big night for Nigeria duo of Anthony Nwakaeme and Ogenyi Onazi as well as Ghana’s Caleb Ekuban as they shared goalscoring responsibilities in Trabzonspor’s 4-0 success over Galatasaray in one of Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig fixtures.

Before kickoff, Galatasaray held a 100 per cent start to the season having won all of their three previous matches and were considered favourites going into the contest at the Medical Park Arena until things turned sour for them.

Onazi’s goal was the shot in arm that Trabzonspor needed to spark off a big win.

It took just three minutes for Nigeria international Onazi to open the floodgate of goals when he struck sweetly after Gala failed to clear their lines properly after Hugo Rodallega’s shot was block for the Super Eagles midfielder to arrow into the bottom corner.

Halfway into the match, Nwakaeme got his name among the goals as his shot was deflected into the net past Galatasaray’s experienced goalkeeper Fernando Muslera after good work by Yusuf Yazici.

Things went from bad to worse for the Turkish champions just after half an hour when Younes Belhanda was sent off for a red card offence.

Right on the stroke of half-time, Nwakaeme put the game to bed with a sumptuous individual brilliance of a goal. The forward. With what looks likes arrogance, Nwakaeme simply glided past three markers before picking his spot to make it 3-0 to Trabzonspor.

Galatasaray, who had another Nigerian on the pitch in Henry Onyekuru on the night, never recovered from the hammer blow in a matchup they were deemed favourites from the outset.

Instead it was Nwakaeme who once again had a hand, may be a leg, in the fourth goal as he turned provided for Ekuban to score on the dot of full-time and earn Trabzonspor a famous win.
