Nigeria winger Moses Simon will not take part in his Levante UD’s opening match against Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarin in Sevilla on Friday.
The 23-year-old missed out on a place to the FIFA World Cup in Russia owing to an injury and despite recovering that setback suffered a thigh injury on August 15 in a pre-season friendly match for his club.
Simon has missed training prior to his club’s first match.
Levante head coach Paco Lopez has now left out the winger from a 19-man squad that travelled to Sevilla for Friday’s match.

The time-frame for the return of the Super Eagles winger remains unknown as Levante aim to navigate a difficult start to LaLiga this season with matches against Celta Vigo and Valencia to follow their trip to Real Betis.
Simon joined Levante from Belgian side KAA Gent this summer.
