Jose Mourinho is favourite to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season.
The Manchester United manager has been backed into as short as 7/1 to receive his marching orders ahead of any other top-flight boss.
United ended last season without a trophy and a disappointing pre-season campaign coupled with the frosty mood Mourinho has been in throughout the US tour has seen a flurry of bets placed on him being sacked.
A whopping 82% of bets placed over the last 24 hours have been on Mourinho getting the chop, which has seen his odds drop lower than Leicester manager Claude Puel and Watford boss Javi Gracia.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Mourinho has not covered himself in glory with Manchester United’s tour of the USA, with the 55-year-old claiming that it’s ‘not his squad.’
“The negativity is just one of an array of factors that Manchester United fans are not happy with – and that despondency has crept into punters’ thoughts ahead of the 18/19 season.”
United failed to win any of their opening three tour games within the regulation 90 minutes and United’s spell in the US went from bad to worse with a thrashing by fierce rivals Liverpool at the weekend.
After the match, Mourinho bizarrely appeared to turn on his young team when asked about Alexis Sanchez’s negative body language during the match.
“Look, do you want him to be very happy with the players he has around him?” Mourinho said. “We are here just to survive and to have some not very ugly results. Alexis is the only striker we have. And the poor man is there trying his best.”
