Seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) winners Enugu Rangers defeated amateur side Emene United 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in a friendly match on Wednesday.
Felix Ogbuke and Isaac Loute scored in the win for the Flying Antelopes as they prepare for the resumption of the league season which has been on a break due to the World Cup in Russia.
Four days ago, Rangers had suffered a 0-2 defeat in a warm-up with same team but this time, Gbenga Ogunbote’s men were in no mood for niceties.
Despite the inclusion of two former Rangers players, Ejike Uzoenyi and Christian Obiozor, in their setup, Emene United trailed 0-2 at the break.
Ogbuke scored for Rangers from a free kick after 19 minutes.
It took another 20 minutes before the Flying Antelopes got their second of the match. It was former Kano Pillars and FC Ifeanyiubah Loute who added the second goal.
Rangers had chances to widen their lead in the warm-up game but Bright Silas and Jonathan Richard missed the opportunities to earn a bigger margin of success.
The Flying Antelopes, who are 10th on the NPFL ranking, will play hosts to Nasarawa United in Enugu on July 18.
