Nigeria international winger Victor Moses started an English Premier League game for Chelsea for the first time in seven matches as they cruised to a 3-1 win against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The 26-year-old has fully recovered from a hamstring injury sustained at Crystal Palace early last month and promptly stake a claim to keep his place with an assist.
He would later win the spot kick for Chelsea’s third goal scored by Eden Hazard.
Moses, who played all 90 minutes, provided the cross that ensured that Spanish forward Alvaro Morata gave Chelsea a 2-1 lead on 33 minutes after Dwight Gayle gave the away team Newcastle a surprise lead 21 minutes earlier.
It was the eighth appearance in the Premier League for Moses and his first direct involvement in a Chelsea goal this season.
Belgian Hazard scored the other goal for Chelsea to win 3-1 and stay within distance of the Manchester clubs, who currently occupy top-two positions.
