AITEO Cup holders Akwa United are expected to make a new contract offer to their first-choice goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo in a matter of days, thepredictorng.com can report.
Olorunleke moved from another Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Sunshine Stars to Akwa United in mid-season in the last campaign and played a major role in their fourth-place finish in the league and Cup triumph.
However, thepredictorng.com has learned that Olorunleke was on a short-term contract that ended last season after the Promise Keepers defeated Niger Tornadoes in the AITEO Cup final via penalties in Lagos last month.
Nigerian champions Plateau United were previously monitoring the situation between Olorunleke and Akwa United with the hope of pouncing and luring the goalkeeper to the central Nigerian city of Jos.
But Plateau United are yet to make any official bid for the goalkeeper, according to an official of the club who revealed their interest for the stopper.
Plateau United have already moved for Okiemute Odah as the option should Olorunleke sign a new deal at Akwa United.
Thepredictorng.com also understands that Olorunleke is currently in Uyo.
