Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have already began planning for life in the second tier in Nigeria after their relegation from the top division this season by releasing 20 players.

Top among the players left out of those retained by 3SC are Promise Ebiaku, Suraj Sodiq, Moses James, Samuelson Owono, Wasiu Jimoh, Charles Tambe, Tayo Adebogun, and former Ikorodu United forward Merenini Junior.

However Nigeria beach soccer national team star Abu Azeez leaves the club after his brief loan spell ended last month.

Thepredictorng.com understands that some of the players let loose are not keen on featuring in the second tier, the Bet9ja Nigeria National League and would prefer to join up with clubs in the top division.

However, the club in a statement made available to thepredictorng.com by their spokesman Jubril Arowolo on Monday evening revealed that half of their 40-man playing personnel was released “after evaluating the contributions and performances of every player in the team that got relegated from the Premier League (the Nigeria Professional Football League).”

Some of the players who will remain at the club include Ajani Ibrahim, Seun Akinyemi, Alaba Osawe, Najeem Olukokun, Jide Apena, Bode Daniel and goalkeepers Abubakar Adamu and Michael Uweru as well as their top scorer in the NPFL last season Sunday Faleye.

The former Nigerian champions also informed that they will recruit new players to join up with those retained for their campaign in the NNL next season.

“New players will be added to the retained squad after a thorough screening that will be conducted to fill all the necessary positions in the team,” stated 3SC.
