Former Nigeria under-17 captain Kelechi Nwakali has completed a move to Dutch side VVV-Venlo on a season-long loan from Arsenal.
The 19-year-old midfielder returns to the Dutch league for the second season after spending last season at MVV Maastricht.
The deal for Nwakali had been agreed between Arsenal and Venlo but was delayed due to paperwork bothering on residency and work permit until transfer deadline day.
“VVV-Venlo and Arsenal have been working on a loan agreement that was completed today. The clubs had agreed on the loan of Nwakali for a long time, but obtaining the necessary documents for his transfer took some time,” VVV-Venlo said in a statement confirming the signing of the Nigerian teenage midfielder.

Manager of VVV-Venlo, Stan Valckx, was relieved to finally see the deal for Nwakali completed.
“Nwakali had been on our list for a long time, but it was awaiting all the paperwork to come around. Finally, it’s nice that everything could be completed on the so-called deadline day,” he told the club’s website.
The Arsenal midfielder featured in 29 Dutch league matches for Maastricht and scored twice.
