English Premier League side Arsenal are in talks about a potential player swap with La Liga side FC Barcelona over Mesut Ozil and Arda Turan before the transfer window closes on Thursday midnight.
Ozil appears unhappy at the Emirates and is desperate to leave with a year left to run on his current contract with the North London side.
Barcelona are reported to be planning cash plus Arda Turan for a deal to land Ozil.
The Gunners have shown an interest in the Turkish attacking midfielder previously and Barca are now reported to be keen on chipping in the player in an attempt to prise away the Germany international from Arsenal.
It is believed that representatives of Arsenal and Barcelona have spoken but no agreement is in place with just a day to the end of the summer transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have considered a cash plus Turan deal.
As for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, he remains unfazed about losing the German midfielder on a free next summer.
“It’s not an issue. I think it’s an ideal situation,” Wenger had said recently. “Why? Because everyone has to perform.
“When you’re a football player, you perform until the last day of your contract. Whether you have two or one yearleft, it doesn’t change. You want to play and do well.
“Do you really think they sit in the dressing room and think: ‘Oh, I have one year to go, I will not play well today.’
“When you are a football player, you want to play well. What does that have to do with the length of your contract? It’s amazing.”
