Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong has signed for Serie A side Udinese Calcio, the Italian club confirmed on Friday.
The 24-year-old leaves Turkish Super Lig side Bursaspor for a transfer fee believed to be slightly above €3 million.
“The defender of the Nigerian national team arrives in Udine from the Bursaspor. William Ekong is Bianconero,” Udinese announced on their website.
The club’s technical director Daniele Pradè believes that the Serie A side have struck a good bargain for a centre-back whose aerial strength will serve to their advantage in both defensive and offensive areas.

Pradè also holds the view that the Nigerian defender will fit into the style of Udinese manager Julio Velázquez.
“Ekong is a player with an important physical structure – skilled in the air defense both in defence and offensive.
“We talk about an aggressive central defender, strong in contest and with an excellent game play: a thoughtful, non-instinctive leader who always tries to play the ball, all characteristics that go very well with the game of Mr Velazquez,” said Pradè.
Troost-Ekong who turns 25 on September 1 has made 24 international appearances for Nigeria and scored once.
Last season he scored twice for Bursaspor in 27 matches.
