Nigeria trio of Junior Ajayi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Mikel John Obi will not take part in Friday’s pre-World Cup friendly against Poland at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the three players have been ruled out for different reasons.
Etebo has been confirmed to be injured after he was sidelined in Las Palmas’ draw with Deportivo after it was reported that the former Warri Wolves man checked into Madrid to see a specialist.
Nigeria captain Mikel is now a doubt for the match in Wroclaw “as he has been working hard at renewing his work permit in China,” where he plays for Super League side Tianjin Teda.
“We all had been hoping that the renewal (of Mikel’s work permit in China) would come in good time for him to fly to Poland. As it is now, it is not likely that he would make the trip,” an official of the Super Eagles Dayo Enebi Achor told thenff.com.
Ajayi, who is based in Egypt and plays for Al Ahly, has been “unable to secure a visa into Poland” according to the NFF.
Instead the Al Ahly forward is now expected to be available for the friendly against Serbia at The Hive, Canons Park in London next Tuesday week.
