China-based Ike Diogu has been named among the roster for D’Tigers scheduled to take part in this year’s Commonwealth Games in Carrara, Australia.
The 34-year-old power forward is the most experienced of the roster named by D’Tigers head coach Alex Nwora.
Diogu was captain of the Nigerian team at the 2017 Afrobasket when they finished as losing finalists to Tunisia.
The former San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings man is expected to play a leading role in Nwora’s team to the 2018 Gold Coast games in April.
There are also five overseas-based players in the roster of D’Tigers and another six from the Kwese Premier Basket League.
Three unattached players based in the United States of America are listed. They are Olalekan Graham Olatunji, Uchechi Chima Ofoegbu and God’sgift Onyekachi Achiuwa.
Uchenna Ireogbu and Prince Ifeanyi Orizu are the other foreign-based players.
Kano Pillars trio of Azuoma Dike, Dung Eli Abraham and Abdul Yahaya make the team and are joined by Musa Usman, Abdulwahab Yakubu and Istifanus Sylvanus.
D’Tigers will face hosts Australia, New Zealand and Canada in Group B of the men’s basketball event at the Commonwealth Games.
