Dutch outfit Fortuna Sittard have put their Nigerian head coach Sunday Oliseh on a “non-active” role, according to their statement on Wednesday.

The club which compete in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier in Holland, explained that the decision to place Oliseh on non-active is “as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer towards several persons in the organization.”

“Fortuna Sittard immediately puts its coach Sunday Oliseh on non-active. The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer towards several persons in the organization. Several attempts by the club to move the trainer to other behaviour were unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation.

“The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasizes that the decision to disband Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by the current sporting performance. Because of his inadmissible actions, the coach has made the cooperation with many people within the organization impossible. From players to employees. Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else,” Fortuna Sittard announced on their website.

Trouble Oliseh, on the other hand, confirmed via his Twitter handle that he has “been suspended” by the club.

The former Nigeria international then alleged that the reason for being suspended stems from his “refusal to participate in illegal activities at Fortuna Sittard.”

“I confirm: Due to my refusal to participate in Illegal activities at Fortuna sittard & violate the Law,i have been Suspended from my duties as Coach by the Foreign Owners of Fortuna.Unfortunate for the lovely fans, my players & our hard fought phenomenal positioning for Promotion,” Oliseh wrote on Twitter.

Sittard appointed Oliseh as coach in December of 2016.

The club currently sit in third place on the Eerste Divisie behind NEC and Jong Ajax in that order despite four defeats on the bounce.

Sittard have named Claudio Braga as head coach in interim capacity.
